How to make calcium grease?

Calcium Grease Formulation and Manufacturing Process

Composition

  • Tallow (Animal Fat): 13 kg

  • Rice Fatty Acid: 7 kg

  • Hydrated Lime (Calcium Hydroxide): 3 kg

  • Caustic Soda (Sodium Hydroxide): 150 g

  • Latex Rubber Milk: 150 g

  • Base Oil: 80 kg

Process

1. Preparation

  • Safety First: Ensure all personnel are wearing appropriate PPE (gloves, goggles, and lab coats).

  • Equipment Check: Verify that all equipment (reaction vessel, heating system, and mixers) is clean and operational.

2. Initial Charging

  • Heating and Stirring: Begin heating the mixture while continuously stirring until the materials are completely melted and uniformly mixed.

3. Addition of Hydrated Lime

  • Mixing: Slowly add 3 kg of hydrated lime to the melted mixture.

  • Continued Heating: Ensure the lime is thoroughly mixed into the blend.

4. Water Addition

  • Hydration: Once the lime is fully incorporated, add 150 ml of water to the reaction vessel.

  • Temperature Monitoring: Gradually increase the temperature to 70°C.

5. Caustic Soda Solution

  • Preparation of Solution: Dissolve 150 g of caustic soda in 450 ml of water to create a caustic soda solution.

  • Addition: Slowly add the caustic soda solution to the reaction vessel.

  • Temperature Increase: Raise the temperature to 110°C and maintain it for 1 hour to ensure complete saponification.

6. Final Additions and Mixing

  • Base Oil: Add the remaining 79 kg of base oil to the saponified mixture.

  • Latex Rubber Milk: Introduce 150 g of latex rubber milk into the blend.

  • Thorough Mixing: Continue mixing the entire batch to ensure a homogeneous product.

7. Cooling and Homogenizing

  • Controlled Cooling: Gradually reduce the temperature while maintaining stirring to achieve a uniform consistency.

  • Final Checks: Ensure the mixture has thickened properly and has the desired grease properties.

8. Quality Control

  • Testing: Perform standard quality control tests (e.g., penetration, drop point, and mechanical stability) to verify that the grease meets the required specifications.

  • Adjustments: Make any necessary adjustments to the formulation if the grease properties do not meet the desired standards.

9. Packaging

  • Transfer: Once the grease has achieved the correct consistency and passed quality control tests, transfer it into appropriate containers for storage and distribution.

Safety Considerations

  • Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation in the production area to avoid inhalation of fumes.

  • Handling Chemicals: Handle all chemicals with care and follow safety guidelines to prevent accidents
